On Tuesday November 10th 2009 in a colourful ceremony where there were over 250 children at the Father Gough Sports complex, Manjai, the coordinator of the Father Gough sports foundation, Mr Bye Malleh Wadda presented jerseys and football boots to eleven academies in greater banjul area. The academies ranged from aged 12 to 16 years. The jerseys and boots were collected by Mr Wadda from teams playing in the berkshire youth league in the united kingdom (Bracknell Cavarliers, Maidenhead magpies and the white grove football clubs). Mr wadda took the occasion to thank those that donated the equipment and also thanked the few gambians that contributed towards the shipment of the goods (Omar Koroma oj, Nyok Malick Jeng Yaram Promotion, Ebou Barrow Chala, Saul Jagne, Koto Faal and Such Sarr).


He expressed hope that the equipment will go a long way towards helping the children in the academies develop their football skills. He said the Gough Foundation would continue to develop facilities, provide equipment and scholarships to The Gambia in it's efforts  of nation building. He also express the hope they would continue to receive gifts from teams in the united kingdom for teams in The Gambia due to relationships he is trying to forge with teams in the united kingdom.


Mr Wadda also said that the foundation has received about 500 goal keeper gloves from a sponsor in the united states of America, Lucas sports. The gloves are to be distributed nation wide to provide goalkeeper gloves to every team in the nation. The gift was made possible by dr. Alfred Lucas a friend of the foundation and shipment was arranged by Mr Tijan Ceesay.
